Meet my most treasured characters that grew up with me

Image
Hullo fella's! I wanted to share with you my absolute most favorite characters I have ever created! Devo and Alex. (Their full names are Devonian Jake Jackheart, and Alexander Stanley Ferrenski.) Now, I first created these dude's when I was twelve years old. I've been making characters as long as I can remember, but never to the same intensity I hold for my most treasured boys. Also, these guys will have their own entire series together. Big, complicated story I've been working on and am still working on since... well twelve years old.. as I said.. earlier.. Anyway! As I was saying: Devo and Alex are my most developed characters that I have, I know them both like the back of my hand, mostly Alex over Devo, but that's only because Alex is like my dream boyfriend in a way... also my favorite kind of character: Over confident, funny, courageous, and compassionate. Oh, and very sarcastic . Devo on the other hand is a little sad in a way, serious, and careful in pretty ...

Just a little chat...

I am still working on the editing of my book. There are so many sentences that don't need to be there, and I keep fixing them and trying to perfect them.. Then I remember this video I watched with my dad where this guy spent several years on a game and it's still not perfect, at this point I don't need it to be perfect if it means I'll work on it for years, and it will never be published. I just want it out there, and if not into an actual book, then as a digital one that can be read for free. Just the idea of getting it out there is enough to make me smile. Hold for the cringe... Anyway. I am so excited for people to know my characters, and not the way it usually happens where I tell them about my characters, and then ramble and then stop because I've noticed they have fallen asleep. Not even kidding. I thought I'd show you guys a picture of Rodney Connors my second main character from my book. I really  like how she turned out, but this is not how she looks i...

Story making/In other words I ramble for a while...

Hello again. This morning I awoke to the sound of rain smashing down on the tin roof, and if that wouldn't wake you: nothing will... I still have no idea what I'm doing, but I guess that's how we all start out. I am still looking for someone to publish my book, and my plan is to send my book to as many publishers as possible in hope that one will take it. I know getting published is a low chance, I mean: no one knows about me, no one knows of my books, and its hard to start off with nothing. I'm not going to lie, I am afraid. This is new territory I have never entered in my life. My life has been easy, growing up I thought the hardest thing I would ever do was making friends, and in a way that's still hard. But nope, being an adult is way harder than I ever thought, and I haven't even started. I thought doing dishes every night made my life hard. Pffftt, nah uh. I want to succeed, and you know what: I will, because I will work for this one thing I want, but I al...

Til Death Do Us Part : Meet my main characters.

As I've said, I love making characters, especially weird ones. First I get an idea for one, then I work around that idea until I get something character like. I usually start with the personality, then add a face around that, and only after that do I add a name. I don't often start with a name first, but recently I did: and it is the weirdest approach after so many years of my one way of doing it. Also, I LOVE flaws in characters, it's one of things that makes writing my characters in to stories so exciting because over time you get to uncover all these things about them you never first see, just like in real life when you meet someone new. At first you have your own perspective on the person, and half the time it's completely wrong, and then you get to learn who this person really is and sometimes you're blown away at how different they are to you or how incredibly similar. Guess you could say I have a very odd way at looking at the world. I compare it with my wri...

The Beginning of my path forward.

Hi, my name is N Shelford. And this is my first blog. I'm learning everything slowly and it is hard and confusing. My dream goal is to walk past a bookstore and see my books on display, people picking them up, learning about my characters. Reading them, obviously. I have stories to tell, and what better way than writing? My first movement forward is publishing. You'd think it was writing the book, but that's the one step I've got covered. The writing part is so much fun, and I enjoy every minute, the hard part is learning everything else. My plan is to create a following of sorts, people out there willing to hear about my characters, which I'll be honest I put pretty much all of my thought process into. I love character creation, making them into a person I can and hopefully others can relate to. Fun, different personalities for each one, and no matter how many I make, I always want to make more. Its just giving them stories and an actual universe to help them in th...
