The Beginning of my path forward.

Hi, my name is N Shelford. And this is my first blog. I'm learning everything slowly and it is hard and confusing. My dream goal is to walk past a bookstore and see my books on display, people picking them up, learning about my characters. Reading them, obviously. I have stories to tell, and what better way than writing?

My first movement forward is publishing. You'd think it was writing the book, but that's the one step I've got covered. The writing part is so much fun, and I enjoy every minute, the hard part is learning everything else. My plan is to create a following of sorts, people out there willing to hear about my characters, which I'll be honest I put pretty much all of my thought process into. I love character creation, making them into a person I can and hopefully others can relate to. Fun, different personalities for each one, and no matter how many I make, I always want to make more. Its just giving them stories and an actual universe to help them in their progress of growth into a well established character. Also, creating relationships between my characters, friends so close they're practically brothers. Or girls and boys going through so much together only to realize how important the other's life really is to them. Love.
I personally have never felt real love with someone out of my family tree, but I adore writing what it must feel like. Even though I have no experience, I can imagine the pain of losing someone after going through so much together. Or, feelings growing for another human being that you can't explain. Weak knees, longing looks, connection.

My first book is called Til Death Do Us Part. It is about two detectives working together to solve paranormal cases involving deaths, and parts of themselves they prefer to hide. The main characters are Cassie Bishop: a human woman not built for such a life, and Rodney Connors: a Phoenix born into the dangerous path she chooses to follow. Not only is it about them trying to solve this case, it's about them learning more and more about each other and themselves, and what measures they'll take to protect one another.

I know, kind of cheesy, but what can I say: I love cheesy. It's a guilty pleasure to get all giddy inside because of a cliche line. Or a romantic setting between two in love. Sometimes, when I write out scenes around two characters it's an ideal way that I want my love life to start, but I tend to write different ones all the time so I'll just take what I can get.

Anyway, these books will create a series, and one way or another, I'll get them out there. I can take all the steps in the world, but my dream wouldn't be properly achieved without people. I want people to read my stories. There's no point in having all the books, all the money, and yet: no one to share with it.

This is me writing my way into the Author's world...
